How the Zoooom Verified Report Works
Before you spend a dollar — or hand over your keys — the Zoooom Verified Report tells you what's actually known about a specific VIN: title brand, flood risk, theft, open recalls, the issues this model is known for, an AI visual walkaround, and whether the car is overdue for service. In plain English, newest-and-most-important first.

What a Verified Report shows you
Every report opens with a single verdict — a 0–100 score and a one-line summary like "Worth a closer look" — so you get the headline before the detail. Below it, the condition breakdown groups everything we can verify into clear categories, each with a status dot (clear, review, caution, or serious) you can expand for the full explanation and its source:
- Title — salvage, flood, lemon, or junk brands across title records.
- Flood risk — flood title brands plus whether the VIN's listing locations overlap a FEMA flood-disaster county and date window.
- Theft check — whether a theft record is on file.
- Open recalls — VIN-specific NHTSA campaigns still open (these are usually a free dealer fix).
- Known issues — the components this exact year/make/model is most reported for, with owner-complaint counts.
- Market value — a localized estimate of what the car is worth. Enter the vehicle's mileage and Zoooom sharpens the value to your area and that odometer reading.
- Sales & listing history — where and when the VIN has been listed or sold before, so you can spot flips and price patterns.
- Condition (AI walkaround) — an optional visual check of the photos for cosmetic damage and flood tells, when a guided walkaround is available. This is a visual check only — not a mechanical inspection.
- Maintenance — whether service appears overdue versus the last record on file.
Every report opens with "All available sources checked" — we don't tout a big source count, we check all the sources available for that VIN and show you exactly which ones we hit, each with its own status and last-retrieved date. It all rolls up into one plain-English verdict and a 0–100 score.
Free VIN preview, full report with a free account
You don't need an account to get a feel for a car. Drop in a VIN and the free preview decodes the vehicle and shows the verdict score and each category's status at a glance — enough to know whether a car is worth your time.
The full report — detailed recall text, known-issue counts, market value, sales & listing history, the AI walkaround notes, maintenance status, and your state's title-transfer steps — unlocks with a free Zoooom account. Creating one takes a moment and works across the whole platform; you do not need to complete identity verification just to read a report.
Every report you run is saved to your Digital Garage and stays current for 30 days — if new records land on that VIN inside the window, the report auto-refreshes so what you're reading is up to date. Line up several cars you're considering and Zoooom keeps each one fresh while you decide.

Why it matters — for buyers and sellers
For buyers
Walk in already knowing
- Spot salvage, flood, and theft history before you drive out to see a car.
- Know which recalls are open so you can get them fixed for free.
- See the model's known weak points and whether service is overdue — real negotiating leverage.
For sellers
Prove your car is the real deal
- A clean Verified Report attached to your listing builds instant buyer trust.
- Up-front transparency means fewer lowball "what are you hiding" offers.
- A documented maintenance history routinely supports a higher asking price.
Where the data comes from
A Verified Report isn't an opinion — every line traces back to a source, and we show it:
- NHTSA — open recall campaigns and owner-complaint counts (reports, not confirmed defects).
- Vehicle-history data providers — title brands, theft records, and reported mileage.
- FEMA — federal flood-disaster declarations, correlated to where the VIN has been listed.
- Zoooom AI Inspection — the visual walkaround of the listing photos.
- Market & listing data — localized valuation plus the VIN's prior sales and listing history.
- Zoooom service history — maintenance records logged in the seller's digital garage.
Rather than advertise a headline source count, the report shows "All available sources checked" and lists every source it queried for that VIN with its individual status and last-retrieved date — so you can see exactly what was and wasn't available, not just a number.
Common questions
Is the Verified Report a mechanical inspection?
No. It covers title, history, recalls, known issues, an AI visual walkaround, and maintenance status. For mechanical condition — engine, transmission, brakes — book a certified mechanic. The report is what tells you which areas are worth their time.
Is it free?
The VIN preview is free with no account. During the current promo every Zoooom account also gets 3 free full reports — the same data a paid report shows — no identity verification required just to read one. And if a VIN has no records at all, there's no charge for the empty result. Each report you run is saved to your Digital Garage and stays current for 30 days.
How current is the recall and complaint data?
Recall status is VIN-specific and pulled from NHTSA's federal database. Owner-complaint counts reflect reports filed to NHTSA for that year/make/model — they're a signal of where a model tends to have trouble, not a verdict on the specific car in front of you.
