How Offers & Negotiation Work on Zoooom (The Deal Center)
On Zoooom, a buyer and seller don't trade texts and phone calls across three apps — they negotiate in one place. The Deal Center is where every offer, counter, message, and status for a single car lives together, from the first offer to the final handoff. Here's exactly how it works, for both sides.
The deal flow, step by step
Every Zoooom deal follows the same simple path. Each step is tracked in the Deal Center with a timestamp and a clear status, so neither side ever loses the thread:
- The buyer submits an offer. On any listing, an interested buyer enters a price and sends it. Submitting an offer is identity-gated — the buyer verifies who they are first — so sellers only ever field offers from real, verified people.
- The seller accepts, declines, or counters. The seller reviews the offer in their Deal Center and chooses. They can accept it outright, decline it, or counter with an inline price — a quick edit that keeps the conversation alive instead of ending it.
- The buyer responds to the counter. The buyer gets an email plus an in-app inbox notification the moment a counter lands, and can accept the counter (identity-gated again) or decline — all without leaving the Deal Center. Counters can go back and forth until both sides agree.
- The deal moves toward payment and handoff. Once an offer is accepted, the price is locked and the deal advances to the payment and safe in-person handoff stage that actually completes the sale.
Making an offer
Offers start on the listing itself. The buyer opens the make-an-offer dialog, enters a number, and sends — there's no email chain, no "is this still available?" guesswork. Because submitting an offer requires identity verification, the buyer confirms who they are before the offer reaches the seller. Sellers see a verified badge on the buyer, and buyers see one on the seller, so both sides know they're dealing with a real, checked person from the first message.
Countering — keep the buyer, don't lose the deal
A counter is the most useful button in the Deal Center. Instead of declining a low offer and watching the buyer walk, the seller edits the price inline and sends it back. The buyer is notified instantly by email and in-app, opens the Deal Center, and can accept the counter or decline in a click. Every round of the negotiation is written down and tracked, so there's never a "but you said" argument — the history is right there.
Messaging — safe, on-platform, and moderated
Alongside the offer, built-in messaging lets the buyer and seller chat directly: ask about service history, arrange a viewing, confirm details. Every message runs through content moderation that automatically blocks and flags abusive or scam content — the same fraud-review pattern Zoooom uses across the platform — so nobody gets pushed to "just text me here" or pressured off-platform where scams hide. Keeping the conversation on Zoooom is what keeps it provable and safe.
Why it matters — for buyers and sellers
For buyers
Negotiate without the phone tag
- Make and counter offers in writing — no calls, no missed texts.
- Get notified instantly when a seller counters or accepts.
- Every offer and counter is tracked, so you always know where the deal stands.
For sellers
Counter without losing the buyer
- Counter a low offer inline instead of declining and starting over.
- Screen who you're dealing with — every buyer is identity-verified.
- Keep all communication on-platform and moderated for your safety.
Common questions
Where do offers and counters actually happen?
All in the Deal Center. The buyer submits from a listing; the seller accepts, declines, or counters; the buyer is notified and responds — every step tracked in one place with full history. There's nothing to manage across email or text.
Do I have to share my phone number?
No. Built-in messaging lets you chat with the other party directly inside the Deal Center, and every message is moderated. You can run the entire negotiation without ever giving out personal contact details.
Why do I have to verify my identity to make or accept an offer?
So the person on the other side of the deal is real. Offers and accepts are identity-gated, which is why both buyers and sellers see verified badges on each other. Read more about how verification works.
